Owl City est un projet musical de Adam Young, le nom Owl City vient de la chanson du même nom de Panda Bear. Il poste tout d'abord ses musiques sur MySpace avant de sortir un EP en 2007 qu'il auto produit tout comme son premier album. Le deuxième album studio le propulse sur la scène internationale grace à la chanson Fireflies.
Il a collaboré avec plusieurs artistes, notamment Taylor Swift et Carly Rae Jepsen.
